The IN 32 showing is an area of scattered mineralization underlain by Pennsylvanian andesite and basaltic augite porphyry of the Stikine Assemblage that have been intruded by a stock of quartz monzonite, possibly related to Middle Jurassic Three Sisters Plutonic Suite or the Middle to Late Triassic Stikine Plutonic Suite. The andesite is the dominant rock of the assemblage and varies from tuffaceous to crystalline, contains minor beds of chert and limestone and is frequently dioritic near the quartz monzonite contact.

Shears and quartz veins occur within the andesite, mainly south of a northeast trending fault and north of a northwest trending contact with quartz monzonite. Chalcopyrite, specularite, hematite and magnetite are carried by these shears and veins.

WORK HISTORY.

In 1971, Hecla Operating worked on the In #1 Group claims, on which the IN 32 (104G 080) and IN 41 (104G 117) showings occur. Geological mapping, geochemical (soils) surveys and magnetic surveys were completed on a grid that was established over most of the claim block. The claims are located about five miles northwest of Mess Lake in the Stikine area. A total of 589 soil samples were collected and 45.5 kilometres of ground magnetic surveying was completed (Assessment Report 3845). Several minor occurrences of copper sulfides were examined in the north half of the area during 1971.

Hecla Operating Company examined claims of the In #53 Claim Group during late 1971, and summer 1972 (Assessment Report 3984). The In #53 Group claims lie immediately southeast of a small lake, locally referred to as "Johnnie Lake" In 1972, 10.1 kilometres of IP and resistivity surveying were completed, of which 4.43-line kilometres were completed over the In #53. A total of 1093 soil samples were collected. Twenty kilometres of IP and 90.1 kilometres of ground magnetic surveying were done in total(?) in 1971/1972. The In #53 Group of claims are underlain by a complex of diorite and andesite intruded by granitic and quartz monzonitic rocks. Limestone and rhyolite outcrop in the southeastern part of the claim area.

In 1973, Hecla Operating Company worked on the Out #1, #5 and #11 groups of claims. The Out #1, #5 and #11 claim groups include forty-four "In" claims staked during 1971 and forty-four "Out" claims staked during 1972. Geological mapping, geochemical (soil) surveys and magnetic surveys were completed on a grid of cut lines established over the claims. 508 soil samples were collected (Assessment Report 4638).
